Our Story.
Hey there, we are Jade and Joe, Felicitys parents. We wanted to share our babies story and raise awareness for stillbirth babies in the UK. Lets jump right back to the start..
June 8th 2025
We first saw those two pink lines on that test. After deciding we wanted to try for a baby, tracking ovulation and a little bit of pot luck....you had arrived. We had a very straightforward pregnancy. Felicity was very kind to mummy and aside from some light morning (or all day) sickness at the beginning, we had a smooth ride.
34 Weeks Pregnant
At a routine midwife appointment, our midwife advised that Felicity felt small through my belly. We had not had any concerns prior and so we tried not to worry about it. We were referred to the hospital for a growth scan.
Thursday 22nd January 2026
At 8am, we were seen by a sonographer, who confirmed Felicity was measuring small. In the 3rd percentile. We had a heartbeat monitor and a doppler oxygen and blood flow check. Everything was perfect with her, aside from her growth. The consultant came round and told us that Felicity needed to be delivered early and asked if we would come back on Monday 26th January 2026 for an C section. We were told we had to come back in Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th for steroid injections, to help her little lungs. We skipped out of the hospital, so excited that she would be arriving in just 3 days! We ran round town, picking up all the little bits and bobs we needed, to prepare for her arrival.
Friday 23rd January 2026
At 11:25 we were called into the AAU ready for our first lot of steroids. We sat down on the chair and a midwife grabbed the heart rate monitor and doppler. That midwife left and went to get someone else. I joked with my mum "she always hides from that machine". A second midwife came in and picked up the monitor. "We are going to labour ward now". I asked what was happening and the midwife said that Felicitys heart rate had dropped, dangerously low. We were wheeled through the hospital and up to labour ward where they then pulled the emergency chord. A team of around 20 people came in and started asking me questions, stripping me off and preparing me for surgery. We went into the theatre and they decided we didnt have time for the epidural, I needed to be knocked out. The midwife had still got her heartrate on the monitor and it was still beating. I went to sleep excited to wake up and hold my baby, Im officially a mummy when I open my eyes!
I didnt say goodbye to her, I didnt tell her I love her. I just thought she would be here when I woke up.
I open my eyes and see Joe, crying. "Felicity didnt make it".
The rest of the day was a blur, in fact, 2 months later and the entire last 9 weeks have been a blur. We got to spend a week in hospital with our little girl.
We got Felicitys results back in April. Felicitys cause of death is A Severe, Complete Chord Compression. This still does not give us full answers, other than what happened to our little girl was a complete accident.
Felicity, our baby.
We love and miss you more than you will ever know. We wish every day that you were still here with us.
Always our first daughter, we will never forget you.
Love,
Mummy & Daddy x
